NBA fines San Antonio Spurs
over resting players

NBA has imposed an enormous $250,000 fine on San Antonio Spurs after
funding the NBA franchise guilty of intentionally resting players during the
game against the Miami Heat. A league policy forbids the pro basketball
teams of resting players in a "manner contrary to the best interests of the
NBA", according to a 20120 ruling.
The San Antonio Spurs sent four players home prior to the game
with the Heat on Thursday, prompting the $1/4 million fine. Those four Spurs
players were Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili and Danny Green. "The
team also did this without informing the Heat, the media, or the league
office in a timely way. Under these circumstances, I have concluded that the
Spurs did a disservice to the league and our fans," David Stern, NBA
Commissioner, was quoted on the matter. Some NBA coaches have already gone
on record against the high fine the league imposed on the Spurs.
